We met the modern way—on Bumble. A few exchanged messages quickly turned into plans for a date night that neither of us would forget. Risha was running late as she had hesitations sitting across from a Psychologist, and Aaron was trying to play it cool, waiting with anticipation. But the moment she turned the corner, time stopped. With her elegant grace and a smile that could light up a city, Risha looked like a Disney princess stepping right out of a fairytale—and Aaron’s heart nearly gave out. That night set the tone for something special.
Not long after, Risha’s sweet pup, Blue, had his own say in the matter. Known for his discerning taste, Blue gave Aaron a thorough once-over, sniffed out his intentions, and ultimately decided he was good enough to stick around. With Blue’s seal of approval and sparks that kept flying, it was clear this was more than just a lucky swipe—it was the start of something real.
Our journey together has been nothing short of an adventure—one that started as Covid buddies and quickly turned into lifelong partners in fun. From cozy nights in watching The Littlest Hobo, Below Deck, SNL, UFC or Cops, to cooking elaborate meals side-by-side, and perfecting our wine tasting skills and classic cocktail recipes, we’ve found joy in both the quiet and the chaotic.
Our home is filled with the warm crackle of vinyl from our extensive record collection, the fresh scent of our growing garden, and the occasional fort built with pro-level skill for the perfect movie night (usually with Movie Mill popcorn imported from Lethbridge). On slower evenings, you'll find us curled up watching our favorite YouTube vloggers like Camping with Steve or Kara and Nate, planning our next big adventure or dreaming about life on the road.
We’ve traveled far and wide—from Los Angeles and Orange County to Miami, Tulum, Las Vegas, the Dominican Republic, Cocoa Beach, Minneapolis, Houston, Whitefish Montana, Banff and the stunning Chateau Lake Louise, with an exciting trip to Japan we have recently returned from. But some of our most cherished moments happen closer to home: camping in the mountains of Southern Alberta, Sunday walks as proud members of the Calgary Zoo, weekly visits to the farmers market and nights out enjoying our season tickets to Revv52.
We’ve shared our lives with our beloved dog Blue, who will always be in our hearts, and now with our joyful, goofy sidekick Bunker! Whether it’s cheering for the Houston Astros or Minnesota Vikings (Risha’s now a true fan!), celebrating Coachella from the couch, toasting the Kentucky Derby, or enjoying a quiet evening at La Brezza in our beloved Bridgeland, our life together is full of love, laughter, and the kind of memories that make every moment count.
On a peaceful morning in Orange County, Aaron proposed to Risha on the iconic Huntington Beach Pier—a place Aaron had visited many times over the years and wanted to share with Risha. It was Risha’s birthday weekend, a time they always marked with travel and special memories. This trip, however, carried deeper meaning. They had originally planned the visit with their beloved dog Blue in mind, wanting to bring him to Huntington Beach, known as the best dog beach in America. After Blue’s passing, they chose to honor him by keeping the plans, carrying his memory with them to the ocean he never got to see.
As the sun rose over the quiet pier, Aaron reflected on the strength of their bond, the life they had built together, and the future they dreamed of. Surrounded by the steady rhythm of the waves and memories both joyful and tender, he asked Risha to marry him. It was a moment of love, remembrance, and new beginnings—an engagement woven into the fabric of their shared history and the memory of their good boy, Blue.
